O.P.S. is an equal opportunity employer. In order to work for O.P.S must have 3 to 4 years experience working in the security field.  If you are an ex-military law enforcement, security or special operations, or retired police officer your experience will be accepted in lieu of the aforementioned requirements.  Former military personnel will be required to provide a DD-Form 214. 

O.P.S will conduct a thorough back ground and criminal check. 
Working in the city and county of Denver requires one to maintain a Denver merchant guard license.  Officers can procure this at the Wellington Webb Building at:

Armed Officers ONLY

If you are applying for an armed job you must have the following:

1. Your own hand gun.

2. NRA certification.

3. Duty belt and holster (side leg rig is acceptable).

4. Magazine pouch (at least 2 mags) more mags are optional.  

5. No! FMJ allowed.  Jacketed hollow-point rounds only.

6. Type of caliber O.P.S. require are 40., 9mm or .38.

7. Must have “IS NOT OPTIONAL” bullet proof vest. Within 3 months of hire.

8. Back up weapon “ankle holster” is acceptable (Requires concealed permit only) Colorado state law.

9. Tactical vest to carry items is acceptable and (optional) 

10. No felonies or criminal record whatsoever.

11. Must attend weapon training every 3 months throughout course of employment with an NRA certified instructor.

12. Will have simulated training along with the shooting range.

Unarmed Officers

1. No felonies or criminal back ground.

2. Personally owned reliable transportation.

3. Be professional and responsible.

4. Reliable and on time.
